Supermicro Starts Major Expansion in Asia with System Integration and Operation Center

Super Micro Computer, Inc. Taiwan, February 24, 2011 – Super Micro Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMCI), the global leader in server technology innovation and green computing, announced the development of its new business park for System Integration, Logistics and Operation located in Taoyuan, Taiwan to further expand its operational capabilities in Asia and better service customers in the APAC region. Driven by strong demand from the company’s APAC customer base, Supermicro just doubled its logistics capacity last quarter based on the company’s current Taiwan branch location. The new development will support much higher capacity for the company’s future growth.

“The additional value of a local systems integration facility for supplying Supermicro’s advanced technology servers and storage systems provides our customers with the significant advantages of localized support, improved time-to-market, and more effective cost structures.” said Charles Liang, CEO and President of Supermicro. “We are pleased to increase the competitive advantages for our APAC customers and to meet their dynamic demands for application-optimized solutions.”

Supermicro has been actively seeking suitable locations for the development of the operation center since last year. With the assistance of the Taoyuan County Government, Supermicro was able to settle in the new planned Science and Technology Park in Taoyuan County and to build a total 1.6 million square foot facility, which is expected to be completed at the end of this year.

As the lead company to develop in the brand-new Science and Technology Park, Supermicro has received significant support from the central and local Governments of Taiwan. The Government believes that with this initiative and aggressive investment by Supermicro, the park will develop rapidly, and help contribute to the country’s economic expansion.

The new facility will be used for integration of Supermicro’s various application-optimized server and storage products. It will also have the capability of integrating full-rack solutions for datacenters of Internet Search, Web Hosting or Cloud Computing companies. Supermicro expects the expansion to not only benefit the customers in the region, but also to strengthen the relationships with its upstream contract manufacturers and downstream associated solution partners. Over 2,000 new jobs are expected to be created by Supermicro in the next two years.
