SAN JOSE, California, April 5, 2011 – Super Micro Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMCI), a global leader in server technology innovation and green computing, today announced the industry’s widest selection of server solutions supporting the new generation of 10-Core Intel® Xeon® Processor E7-8800 / 4800 product families (Formerly codenamed Westmere-EX). This includes the SuperServer® 5086B-TRF (5U) for 8-Way, and 8016B-6F/TF (1U), 8026B-6RF/TRF (2U), 8046B-6RF/TRF (4U) for 4-Way server systems. These Supermicro offerings represent the most comprehensive selection of 8 / 4-Way server solutions supporting the Intel® Xeon® Processor E7 family-based platform.

“Supermicro’s 8-way SuperServer® systems with new 10-core CPU support up to 2 TB of ECC DDR3 memory, ten PCI-E 2.0 expansion slots, up to 24 2.5″ hard drives, and offer energy efficient designs,” said Charles Liang, president and CEO of Supermicro. “These solutions deliver improved computing speed, I/O performance, expandability, security, and power efficiency over previous SuperServer® generations. Our ability to deliver solutions for customers requiring large databases, heavy transaction processing, and complex technical computing formulations is significantly enhanced with these new systems.”

“Customers continue to demand increasing amounts of processing power, large memory footprints, and higher levels of security,” said Boyd Davis, VP and GM of Data Center Group Marketing at Intel. “Intel is excited to see the innovation that Supermicro is bringing to customers to meet their growing needs through its platforms based on the Intel® Xeon® processor E7 family.”

Supermicro’s new SuperServer® 5086B-TRF system provides up to 2 TB of registered ECC DDR3 memory in 64 DIMMs, 10 PCI-E Gen 2.0 expansion slots, (2+2) redundant Gold Level power supplies, and up to 24 2.5″ hard drives in 5U to deliver exceptional density. With the new 10-Core Intel® Xeon® processor E7 family-based platform this system offers an unprecedented 80 CPU cores in 5U. The SuperServer® 5086B-TRF offers SAS and hardware RAID through many HBA card options. Users can integrate up to four GPUs to take advantage of the exceptionally large memory footprint to address heretofore unmanageable large scale computing projects. These new platforms also provide onboard IPMI 2.0 with remote media and KVM-over-LAN support for optimal management.

The SuperServer® 8016B-6F/TF (1U), 8026B-6RF/TRF (2U), and 8046B-6RF/TRF (4U) all support up to 1 TB of registered ECC DDR3 memory via 32 DIMM slots. With Gold Level power supply efficiency, optimal cooling designs, and 90%+ power efficient VRMs, these energy-efficient servers deliver breakthrough performance-per-watt. The full range of Intel® Xeon® Processor E7 family-based platform SKUs are supported, from performance 130-watt SKUs to high-density rack-optimized 95-watt SKUs, optimizing these systems for diverse customer environments.
