Supermicro Partners with Nexenta to Launch Software Defined Storage for Enterprises with Up to 1.5PB Capacity, Supporting All Flash, Hybrid, and HDD
Supermicro introduces a unified SAN storage solution based on Software Defined Storage (SDS) in collaboration with Nexenta, designed to meet enterprise-level requirements. This solution enables organizations to build large-scale applications, invest in virtualization and cloud infrastructure, and achieve performance across all levels with both all-flash technology and NL-SAS hard drives.
Powered by NexentaStor, an open source–driven SDS solution, the system delivers enterprise storage services via NFS, SMB, FC, and iSCSI protocols. It supports cluster-based scalability and includes comprehensive features to enhance data durability, such as RAID, snapshot, data replication, high availability, and disaster recovery. It also optimizes storage efficiency through thin provisioning, deduplication, and compression.
From an investment perspective, Supermicro offers flexible hardware options—SSD flash drives for high performance, HDDs for maximum capacity, or hybrid configurations to balance both performance and storage needs. The system can scale up to 1.5 petabytes (1,500 terabytes), allowing organizations to expand as needed without significant upfront investment.
In addition, Supermicro and NexentaStor provide reference architectures for designing systems such as virtualization, virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI), and cloud environments using VMware or OpenStack, ensuring reliable and seamless enterprise deployment.
