Nexenta Systems Announces Supermicro As Premier-Level Technology Partner

Nexenta’s Premier-Level Technology Partnership Includes the Pre-certification of Supermicro Storage Solution; Supermicro Resellers Join Nexenta’s Partner Program

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.—August 23, 2010— Nexenta Systems, makers of the world’s leading OpenStorage solutions, today announced a joint technology partnership that makesSupermicro (NASDAQ: SMCI), the industry leader in server technology innovation and green computing, a premier-level partner in Nexenta’s Technology Partner Program. In conjunction with this news, Nexenta also announced the inclusion of over half a dozen Supermicro resellers in the Nexenta Reseller Partner Program.

Under the partnership and available immediately for purchase, Nexenta Systems and Supermicro have pre-certified the combination of Supermicro’s 3U Super Storage Bridge Bay (SBB) solution, the only dual-processor SBB system optimized for mission-critical, enterprise-level storage applications and NexentaStor, Nexenta’s unified storage management platform, built on the revolutionary open source ZFS file system. As a result, Supermicro resellers can now offer customers an enterprise-class, highly-available storage solution that provides higher functionality and performance-for-dollar than legacy storage technologies.

“Only one month after launching our reseller and technology partner programs, we are proud to add Supermicro as a premier-level Technology Partner because we believe it is a fundamental stepping stone to the growth of the reseller program,” said Jason Yoho, vice president business development, Nexenta Systems. “By pre-certifying industry-leading servers like Supermicro’s SBB, Nexenta empowers organizations to help drive cost-effective, high performance storage solutions that are superior alternatives to proprietary and legacy technologies.”

“Some of our customers are already experiencing the performance and reliability of combining Supermicro’s Super SBB with NexentaStor software, and this Technology Partner Program ensures the continued certification of our leading storage hardware with Nexenta’s OpenStorage solutions,” said Wally Liaw, vice president of international sales, Supermicro. “Our channel partners can now offer another complete, certified Supermicro SBB storage solution that delivers unmatched performance, availability and features.”

Supermicro’s 3U Super SBB is a fully redundant, fault-tolerant, “Cluster-in-a-box” system that provides hot-swappable canisters for all active components. Dual 10-gigabit Ethernet connections between each of the two dual-Xeon serverboard canisters and the system midplane deliver high-speed cache mirroring. If one serverboard fails, the other serverboard can control and access the hard drives to keep the system up and running.

With NexentaStor, customers experience all the benefits of enterprise storage: high performance and air-tight data integrity, multiple replication methods and in-line data deduplication, without relying on the vendor lock-in and outdated technologies of legacy storage vendors. With Nexenta, customers save up to 80 percent on storage costs while benefitting from NexentaStor’s superior storage functionality, tight integration across virtualization products, and faster development cycles versus proprietary storage products.

Seven Supermicro resellers, all with decades of experience, are joining the Nexenta Reseller Partner Program. Two of the resellers are already offering the package of certified SBB and NexentaStor software including:

  • Nordisk Systems Inc., an IT solutions provider with offices throughout the Pacific Northwest
  • VA Technologies, one of the UK’s leading suppliers of high performance servers, storage and workstations.

“As a Nexenta Certified Reseller, we are able to grow our business while providing better value for our customers,” said Deney Dentel, president, Nordisk Systems, Inc. “By working with both Supermicro and Nexenta, we’re bringing superior enterprise-level storage solutions to the market at an ideal price point.”
