Infortrend Unveils New Addition to its EonStor DS Family at SNW Spring 2011
10GbE iSCSI Storage Systems Provide Advanced Hardware Capabilities and Data Services; Enable SMBs to Meet High-Performance Data Storage Demands
SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 5, 2011 – Infortrend® (Public TPE: 2495), the networked storage expert, today announced at SNW Spring 2011 the availability of the first models in its EonStor DS storage family to feature 10GbE iSCSI host connectivity. The market-leading hardware capabilities of these new models, combined with the advanced data services of the EonStor DS family – including local and remote replication and thin provisioning – enable SMBs to meet high-performance data storage demands.
Located in booth #213 on the show floor at the Hyatt Regency Silicon Valley in Santa Clara, Infortrend will be demonstrating its lineup of comprehensive, state of the art storage solutions.
The new EonStor DS S16E-R2240 and S16E-G2240 systems with 10GbE iSCSI host connectivity support powerful IP SANs delivering excellent performance, flexible scalability, high availability and user-friendly management. The systems allow IT administrators to leverage current investments in IP networks to achieve SAN consolidation and enhance their data storage operations without excessive cost burdens.
With the growing prevalence of server virtualization, application environments are becoming more demanding on IT infrastructures. Thus, storage systems are now required to perform at higher levels than ever. 10GbE iSCSI is able to satisfy these performance demands by offering exceptional throughput and easy handling – for even the most demanding applications.
As with all products in Infortrend’s EonStor DS family, the EonStor DS S16E-R2240 and S16E-G2240 systems support advanced data services including local and remote replication as well as thin provisioning. Local replication, including snapshot and volume copy/mirror, is standardly available for EonStor DS users. Remote replication allows users to create off-site copies of data. Thin provisioning technology automatically allocates system capacity to applications as needed, and can help achieve up to 90 percent storage utilization – while significantly reducing power consumption.
Thomas Kao, director of product planning at Infortrend, noted, “The addition of the latest 10GbE iSCSI host connectivity to our EonStor DS family enables SMBs to easily meet demands in virtualized environments. Affordably priced with SMBs in mind, the new EonStor DS solutions are ideal for budget-conscious businesses that are not willing to compromise on data storage performance.”
Available in dual-controller DS S16E-R2240 and single-controller S16E-G2240 configurations, the new systems deliver 6Gb/s SAS drive connectivity and feature a 3U form factor accommodating 16 disk drives.
